How to Make an “I am Thankful Tree” Keepsake
As you know, holidays are a BIG deal in our family. With a military spouse, we make the most of the holidays we get to spend together. A big part of our traditions is making crafts that we can use each year.
With two little girls, I always strive to find fun but simple crafts for the holiday season. I love finding things we can make together AND I can save for years to come.
Supplies:
- Construction/Craft paper
- Leave templates (great ones available at JessGordonDesigns.com) or you can draw freehand some great leaves!
- Tree Draw your own tree and have fun with a cute design
- Crayons/markers/etc.
- Glue
- Laminating Sheets/Laminator
Steps:
- Gather supplies
- Print and cut out leaf templates or draw your own
- Draw and cut out a tree design
- Write name, year and “I’m Thankful For..” on the tree
- Have children write or draw what they are thankful for on the leaves
- Glue leaves onto paper tree (Optional: I number the leaves 1-30 and have the girls write on one leaf every day in November)
- Laminate the completed tree if you are keeping it as a keepsake.
- Enjoy!
What are YOUR family traditions?
